grandmaster flash and the stair pissers

So I made an embarrassing post about dj sharpnel and my career has been permanently ruined because of that monstrosity of an article. Sheesh, I am now a hardcore thug in the streets hustlin and bustlin because of this embarrassing post. I am now a gangsta.
A photo of me taken on Jan 22, 2021.

From now on this is an rap blog from da streets ya know!  I was originally gonna make a special article on Drum and bass music, but I couldn't do it because of the embarrassment! Imma design the whole blog to rap stuff and probably change my picture too...

...so what am I going to be talking about today?

wait....

Yeah, let's talk about the song that made the whole club dance to the timelessly brutal reality of the ghetto: The Message by Grandmaster Flash and the furious five. First things first, the message and the things in this song STILL HAPPEN TODAY. Trust me, as a person who has lived in an urban environment things have changed but still haven't changed. There are good people there and ignorant as all heck people there. I had to deal with Ignorant people (and I still am as of writing this article now). Overall, The Message still holds up and I don't know whether or not that's a good thing...

Second things second, the instrumental is so groovy. Definitely of it's time which is all I can say because of how old it is. Grandmaster Flash is a surprisingly great producer/dj who handles his craft to a T in his skill. As an aspiring dj, I could probably use some inspiration from this dude...
So yeah, the production is pretty good (according to 80s standards)...

And speaking of Grandmaster Flash, he also has a fair share of dj mixes to be found. They are mostly jazzy and relaxing, definitely entertaining to listen to. BUT ONE MIXTAPE STANDS OUT...

"No Copies" is a simple and normal dj mix by Grandmaster Flash. The only thing that makes this mixtape stand out is the intro where he tells whoever is listening to the tape to not make a copy. This confuses me. Does that mean that the uploader copied his copy to make this upload? Technically speaking here. Maybe that means that the uploader broke the rule that Grandmaster Flash had given him. Maybe this was the actual "message" that Grandmaster Flash had given the listener: NO COPIES.
Jokes aside, this mix is actually pretty nice. Mister Flash has really picked out the tunes on this one and it shows.

Overall, "the message" of this article is to pay respect to the OGs who paved the way for how things are today.

also, ever notice that the music video censors the word "piss" but nothing else is changed or edited?

Bye! Gotta go thuggin and huggin my way through the streets(⌐■_■)

the genius behind daddy dj aka talking about Dj sharpnel in subjects that don't last longer than a sentence or two

Lets talk about the the inventor of j-core, Jea. Once upon a time there lived a man named Jea and he decided to popularize a genre of music dedicated to the gabber kick and a sample of an anime tune. Basically, he invented the J-core genre as we all know and love it. With some great album covers for those ear screeching tunes, Jea and his friend: Lemmy decided to make it big with their Live shows and went under the name: "Dj Sharpnel". It's music for weebs by weebs. So why am I talking about this group today?

I have some things to say about this dude.

anyway lets talk about those album covers :)

This one is easy and straightforward with it's message. The cover is great and uses some art from the anime series: Cyberteam in Akihabara. IN FACT, let's talk about that intro...
The intro samples the Cyberteam in Akihabara Theme song with some acid and gabber kicks to it.
However, you can't hear the sample at all unless you got yourself some Headphones or the right speakers that pick up the sample properly. I remember being confused about this for a long time. So much, I thought it was made up but NOOOOOOO IT WAS JUST BECAUSE I FORGOT TO BRING HEADPHONES. Then my headphones broke the same day I made that realization.

crap

How about mad breaks? Everybody likes mad breaks. Y'know... one of their albums that uses a picture of a topless anime girl? Because I have a conscious, I'm not gonna show you the cover. The mad breaks cover is also extremely straightforward sooooooooooo-

How about we stop talking about these album covers? They are all good (except for the ones that reuse the same illustrations). Jea has made a bunch of stinkers in his career to be honest... Every artist has made a mediocre album before but DJ Sharpnel has made a ton of them. I really wanted to like Double-Dutch which has some amazing songs like Psyche Terror and Highspeed Star but most of the tracks are just the same exact copy-paste gabber tracks. The album would be a great ep without all the filler.
3/10
And I'm not disrespecting Jea & Lemmy here, but Just Because an artist did something revolutionary for the music scene doesn't mean that all their music is automatically good. I really forced myself to like this artist and sadly, I had a lackluster experience with Dj Sharpnel and the High Speed Music Team. At least I gave this stuff a try. And I had some fun with it too.
:) man these articles take quick turns.

Update: I honestly like making short articles so... Gonna make some more short articles in the future I guess...

the genius behind The Sharpnelsound label

Eurodance is pretty cool. It's beautifully dated in all the right ways. It's basically European happy hardcore and it's got some bangers to it. I remember eurodance being the first music genre I dug my fingers in. Eifelle 65 paved the way for my music taste and I can thank them for that. Today, I am going to talk about some artist group I just found out about now: DJ Sharpnel!
yeah, you know I'm kidding...
btw here's a YouTube thumbnail I found of a DJ Sharpnel song though:
wait a minute... just need to tweak up some things... perfect!
Daddy DJ was a eurodance group in the early 2000s. The group had animated music videos and compilation/remix albums that just scream 2000s era cartoons. I'm pretty nostalgic for this type of EDM. I don't know why but I just do. The songs they made remind me of some 2009 video on YouTube as background music or something. I think it's all fine and well. Seriously, this stuff is a great representation of the eurodance scene at the time. MAN.
This type of art reminds me of cartoons like Kim Possible. This group really had a charm to them. It really was a thing of the past. Man, what else do I have to say? I have said enough about this stuff already-
OH BOY, HOW ABOUT I TALK ABOUT AN OFFICIAL CASSETTE TAPE THAT CONTAINS THE DADDY DJ SONG AND A LIL KIM SONG. WE LIVE IN A UNIVERSE WHERE LIL KIM AND DADDY DJ SHARE THE SAME FREAKING CASSETTE I CAN'T ANYMORE!!!
"psss it's the boogie clean version. We can play it in front of mommy and daddy without them getting mad at us."

I wish Daddy DJ would come from the sky and pick me up to a magical place called "da club". And I want to dance in this "club" until I'm sick and tired of being in a party which is usually for like 10 minutes and then I will leave appropriately in this situation. Its eurodance which is cool and I like that. ARE YOU EVEN READING THIS ANYMORE BECAUSE IM FREAKING OUT AAAAAAAA
 Ok bye.
